Residents pitch in, help spread holiday cheer via United Way's 28th annual Toy Drive

The ''true meaning of Christmas'' was on display last week as clients of three area charities picked up toys that were donated in the Town of Palm Beach United Way’s 28th annual holiday toy drive, said Krishna Rivera, operations director for the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach.

The United Way collected more than $20,000 and  at least 2,000 toys thanks to the generosity of island donors. More than 200 families and organizations contributed to the drive, which wrapped up Dec 5. In addition to Catholic Charities, the toys were evenly distributed Tuesday at the United Way's office to Clinics Can Help and Farmworker Coordinating Council, three of United Way's nonprofit partners.
