GIVE NOW AND YOUR DONATION WILL BE MATCHED!
The Town of Palm Beach United Way has created a Hurricane Helene Recovery Fund
to assist with relief efforts in communities impacted by the storm.
Hurricane Helene made landfall near Perry, Florida on September 26, 2024, as a powerful Category 4 storm bringing catastrophic storm surge, flooding and wind damage to Florida's Gulf Coast and Big Bend regions. The storm also ripped through the Southeastern United States, devastating regions of Georgia and the Carolinas. At least 215 people have died across six states, with dozens more missing. Hundreds of residents remain isolated due to widespread infrastructure damage, and thousands of customers remain without power with spotty communication service.
The Hurricane Helene Recovery Fund will help with immediate relief for people in need.

Across North Carolina, hundreds of roads were closed due to damage from flash floods, fallen trees or storm debris. Blocked roads made it impossible for many survivors to access needed aid, including clean water. Photo by Lisa Soszka Ross courtesy of Americares.
The Global Empowerment Mission team is on the ground with basecamps established in Perry, Florida and Asheville, North Carolina. From these locations, the team is providing large scale distributions of aid to community members. This includes water, ice, food, cleaning supplies, tarps, pet supplies, hygiene supplies, medicine, Starlinks, and more. Vehicles stationed at each basecamp are taking supplies to more rural regions and to those without vehicle access. The agency has delivered 20 semi truckloads of supplies so far, and will be on the ground supporting those affected indefinitely.

World Central Kitchen has relief teams in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. The agency is working shoulder-to-shoulder with local restaurant and food truck partners to provide much-needed food and water aid to the regions. WCK is currently partnered with 35 food trucks offering free meals. So far, 16 restaurant partners across North Carolina and Tennessee have joined the effort, already providing tens of thousands of hot meals and sandwiches to families in need. To reach those stranded when roads and bridges were destroyed by Helene, WCK is using two helicopters to deliver food that is then carried by truck, ATV, or by foot to final destinations. Five 6,200-gallon tankers of drinking water were recently delivered to Asheville, North Carolina. The trucks are capable of making multiple trips to Asheville in a 24-hour period, providing up to 100,000 gallons a day. This water is a lifeline to Asheville and surrounding communities, which have been facing an acute water shortage for days, due to infrastructure damage.
