Palm Beach United Way holiday drive gets head start to avoid toy shortages

Mary Freitas is hoping that an early start to the Town of Palm Beach United Way annual holiday toy drive will give residents ample time to acquire gifts for children in need, in light of global supply shortages.

Typically, the drive lasts two weeks, but the 28th annual toy drive will span four weeks, from Sunday through Dec. 5.

After reports of global toy shortages and supply chain issues that might lead to delays, the United Way — in partnership with the Palm Beach Daily News, Findlay Galleries, Field of Greens and Palm Beach Fire Rescue — decided to kick off the drive two weeks early.
