With new matching grants from Palm Beach couples John and Jana Scarpa, and Joe and Susan Plumeri, the Town of Palm Beach United Way Hurricane Ian Recovery Fund is on its way to topping $1 million.
The organization said Wednesday that the Scarpas and Plumeris each are offering dollar-for-dollar matching gifts of up to $50,000 to help the residents on Florida's Gulf Coast who were affected by Hurricane Ian, which made landfall Sept. 28 near Cayo Costa as a strong Category 4 storm.
