The Neighborhood Engagement program encompasses two key initiatives: A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) and Critical Home Repairs (CR). ABWK provides cosmetic upgrades, such as exterior painting and light landscaping, to improve the appearance and value of owner-occupied homes. CR focuses on addressing urgent repair needs, including roof replacements, accessibility upgrades, impact windows,
resolution of code violations, and other critical repairs to ensure the safety and habitability of homes.
This program targets low-income homeowners, with a specific focus on serving seniors and veterans, who often face financial and physical challenges in maintaining their homes. Recipients are required to meet eligibility criteria, including income limits and proof of homeownership, ensuring that assistance reaches those in greatest need.
The New Home Construction program provides safe, affordable housing for low-income families, addressing the critical need for stability and equity in homeownership. Partner families contribute partnership hours, working alongside staff and volunteers to build their homes, fostering a sense of pride and community. Homes are sold at cost with a no-interest mortgage, ensuring long-term affordability and financial stability for families.
