The Town of Palm Beach United Way works closely with our partner agencies to ensure that our annual donations are carefully and thoughtfully put to good use to help the most people. Each year, dedicated community volunteers make important allocation decisions in an effort to make Palm Beach County a better place to live and work. These volunteers decide where and/or how much money will go to each program funded in the areas of education, financial stability, health and basic needs.
The Allocation process is the cornerstone of our United Way. It ensures fiscal and program accountability for all agencies receiving Town of Palm Beach United Way funds. In the process, volunteers challenge each agency's effectiveness at providing services, review the need for those services in Palm Beach County, and analyze the impact of United Way funding in meeting those needs.
The Committee is composed of community volunteers who either live or work on Palm Beach and represent diversity in experience, gender, race and age. Each of the 14 teams review from 3-10 agencies. After reviewing proposals submitted by the Agencies, team members attend a pre-site meeting, visit each of their assigned agencies, participate in group site visits, and attend a post-site meeting to formulate recommended allocations. Through the process, each team member familiarizes itself with the agency and the services it provides, and then works to arrive at a recommendation for Town of Palm Beach United Way funding in the upcoming year. What follows is the 2017-2018 Allocation Committee recommended funding.
